This spirited little Yorkie is still full of beans, loves being the centre of attention, and would happily follow you from room to room all day long just to be near you. He is a loving, people-focused boy who has had his whole world turned upside down, and he is looking for a patient human to help him feel safe again.
Having always been used to a close bond with his beloved human, Benji thrives on affection and being near the people he loves. He would be happiest in a peaceful home where someone is around for most of the day and where he can be the only fur baby, soaking up all the attention.
The good news? Benji is housetrained, walks around a pool with confidence, eats dry kibble without any trouble, and is used to regular grooming. He is a lively, affectionate companion who just needs a calm, adult-only home, a very secure garden, and a soft spot on the bed at night. Temperament: Benji is high energy for his age, loving, and very people-oriented. He craves attention and company, and he is frightened by bad weather. He is grieving his previous owner and suffers from separation anxiety, so he needs a patient, present human who can help him settle in slowly and gently.
Good with Dogs: Generally good, but he should be the only dog in his new home. The resident Dachshunds in his current home are jealous of him.
Good with Cats: Unknown
Good with Children: Generally good, but an adult-only home is preferred given his anxiety and need for calm, predictable routine.
Housetraining: Fully housetrained. He goes outside first thing in the morning to toilet, and as long as a door is open he will always choose to go outside.
Health/Special Needs: No known health concerns. He is also a confirmed escape artist — he has slipped through gates, jumped walls, dug out, escaped from a harness, and tried to bolt through open doors — so a very secure, well-fenced property is essential.
Ideal Home: A calm adult-only home where someone is home most of the day. Benji must be the only dog, and he needs a highly secure garden and vigilant owners who will keep gates closed and watch him on leash (he is not leash trained). He is used to sleeping on the bed and would love to continue that tradition. He is used to being groomed regularly, so a family who will keep up his coat care is ideal.
