Benji is a 12 to 13-year-old gentleman who has recently discovered what it feels like to be cared for. After a long period of terrible neglect where he was found starving and frail, this little survivor has blossomed. Despite being blind, Benji is surprisingly perky and active once he knows he is safe and fed. He is a "harmless little guy" who doesn't have a bark in him—just a quiet, timid soul looking for a soft place to land.
At approximately 3kg, Benji is a delicate boy. He has spent the last 12 years being bullied by a larger dog, so he is understandably sensitive and timid. He currently struggles with separation anxiety because he is used to being left alone for long periods, but he thrives when he knows his person is nearby. He is a truly special case for a very special adopter who understands the needs of a senior, sightless dog.

Age: 12-13 years old
Temperament: Benji is very timid, sensitive, and harmless. He is not a barker and is generally quiet, though he becomes perky and busy when he is feeling well and active.
Good with Dogs: Not recommended. He was bullied by another dog for 12 years and is very frail; he should not be with big or heavy dogs.
Good with Cats: Not recommended due to his timid and sensitive nature.
Good with Children: Not recommended. He is frail and very sensitive about his hips (he will yelp if touched there), making him unsuitable for a home with children.
Housetraining: Currently not housetrained as he has been locked up without access to the outdoors. However, he shows signs of waiting at the door when someone is home to let him out.
Health/Special Needs: Benji is blind. He has sensitive hips and will yelp if handled roughly in that area. He is recovering from a period of starvation and neglect and is currently doing well on a diet of Hills Senior food.
Ideal Home: Benji needs a calm, quiet home with an adopter who is home most of the day to help with his separation anxiety and housetraining. A home with no other pets or very small, calm senior dogs would be best. He requires a safe, predictable environment where he won't be bumped into.
