Joey comes to our rescue Yorkie program because his loving family realized their busy work schedules couldn't provide the mental stimulation and attention this clever boy truly needs. Because he is highly intelligent and currently under-stimulated, Joey has a strong personality and can be quite vocal. However, he is incredibly trainable. With a family that understands the Yorkshire Terrier breed—providing consistent training, structure, and daily engagement—Joey has the potential to blossom into a phenomenal, well-behaved companion.

Temperament: Sweet, affectionate, highly intelligent, vocal when bored, and has a strong but loving personality.

Good with Dogs: Anxious around other dogs due to a lack of exposure (he has been an only dog). Would need very careful, slow introductions or might prefer being your one-and-only.

Good with Cats: No experience with cats.

Good with Children: Excellent! He does very well with kids.

Housetraining: Semi-housetrained. He is potty-trained when he has open access to the outdoors. If locked inside, he may have accidents and occasionally exhibits coprophagia (eating it). This is highly manageable with a good routine, supervision, and outdoor access.

Other Pets: Not aggressive toward small animals like birds or frogs; just curious!

Ideal Home: A home with someone who is present often, has experience with Yorkshire Terriers, and has the time to dedicate to his training and mental enrichment. He needs a yard for easy potty access.
