Meet Romeo: A Devoted Companion Seeking a Loving, Understanding Home

Romeo is a unique 5-year-old mixed Yorkie weighing approximately 9.5 kilos. Originally brought into his current home during the COVID period for a family member, Romeo has since become a loyal and affectionate part of the family. However, as circumstances changed, Romeo has developed a very strong attachment to his home and a protective nature that sometimes makes it challenging for him to adjust to new situations.

Personality & Behavior

Romeo is an unusually robust and strong little dog with a big heart. He’s incredibly loyal and craves close companionship. Due to his deep attachment, he sometimes takes on a very protective role over his family and home. This protective instinct can lead him to be cautious or even react defensively around unfamiliar people, service workers, or visitors. His current behavior is not a reflection of poor care but rather a manifestation of anxiety and the stress of change.

Daily Life & Health

Physically, Romeo is in great shape. He enjoys a consistent routine that includes a balanced diet and scheduled meals—he even waits patiently for his food each day. While he occasionally experiences minor issues like ear infections, he is overall healthy and well-cared for.

Challenges & Special Needs

Romeo’s anxiety shows itself particularly during outdoor activities. He is hesitant on walks and can become extremely anxious during vet visits. He also needs extra care around unfamiliar animals and isn’t comfortable in busy household environments with young children. These challenges have led us to conclude that a new home might be the best way forward for him.

What We’re Looking For in a New Owner

Romeo’s ideal forever home is one where he can receive the patience and understanding he needs. We are seeking an active, confident, and experienced owner—preferably a young individual—who is familiar with working with dogs that have anxiety. This person should be willing to:
  • Provide consistent, structured leadership and clear boundaries.
  • Dedicate ample time during the day to offer companionship and reassurance.
  • Maintain a secure and calm environment that minimizes triggers for Romeo.
  • Work closely with Romeo to build his confidence and help him feel safe in new situations.
While Romeo’s protective nature and need for extra care might seem challenging at first, with the right support, he has the potential to blossom into a much happier and more balanced companion.
